★ MIA

It’s been a hectic month. So hectic in fact that I forgot to renew my domain registration. I have a lot to recap and I’ll try to cover as much as I can remember.

Hawaii

The main reason why I’ve been MIA is that I was in Hawaii for vacation. This year for my annual vacation, I spent 9 days and 8 nights with my 3 roommates on Oahu. To say it was the best vacation I’ve taken would be an understatement. Even though I’ve been to Hawaii only 3 years before, I had a lot more fun this time around and I was able to do things this time around I didn’t get to do before. Even the things I did do before were even more enjoyable. For example, this time we went to Waimea Bay twice during our trip because jumping off that rock was so damn fun. The snorkeling there beats Hanauma Bay by a long shot and relaxing on those rocks about 500 feet from the beach was so relaxing and can’t be beat. This time I had the joy of experiencing the shrimp from Giovanni’s shrimp truck in Haleiwa (not the original one but still the same truck). The shrimp was so good, we also went back a second time. All it is is shrimp sauteed in butter and garlic with two scoops of rice but seriously, it is the best shrimp I’ve ever had. It is not uncommon to find them sold out for the day, which is what happened to us the first time we visited.

Moped day was one of our more memorable days. We rented mopeds for the day and rode them to Diamond Head. That hike is not for those out of shape as even I found myself stopping to rest more than once. Once you make it to the top, the view can’t be beat. It’s almost as if they made the hike difficult as to reward those who survived the hike with the view from the top of Diamond Head. Later that night, we decide to go mopedding for some late night food after the club. Not the brightest decision, but it made for one of our most memorable highlights of our trip. Impaired judgement plus your first time mopedding equals $450 in damages, white paint on the side of your face and a great story to tell your friends.

I seriously needed a vacation and that Hawaii trip definitely hit the spot. Not only was it relaxing and memorable but, excuse the cheesiness, it helped me take a step back and looked at where I was in my life. I’ll save that for a later post. You can check out the rest of the pictures on my Flickr site.

Half Century

My Dad turned 50 this month and we had a party to celebrate. It was also a perfect opportunity to show off the house that my parents have been remodeling for the past two years. Almost everyone said that looked like a model home. I need to get pictures of the house the next time I’m down. On another note, by doing the math, my Dad was 24 when I was born. I can’t even picture myself caring for another living person but I guess when things like that happen, you adapt and you adjust. It also puts into perspective my own life and where I am presently. I’ll also save this for that later post.

Football Season

For the second year in a row, I made out to the Chargers’ home opener. Fortunately, this year they won. Unfortunately, I had to pay for my ticket since Tiff hung up her pom poms as a Charger girl. This year’s team looks promising and P. Rivers has pretty big shoes to fill now that D. Brees is in New Orleans. We’re off to a 2-0 start although we did play two crappy teams first off. After a week off, we’ll have our first real test when we play at Baltimore.

That’s pretty much what happened this past month wrapped up in a blog post. Speaking of blogs, I suspect things around here to change pretty soon.
